Rock the Vote: Edmund Muskie

For the month of October, we’ll be doing a daily series of posts featuring some of the most memorable politicians from the 1950s, 60s, and early 70s. You can see many cool additional images at Boom Underground.

Edmund Muskie was the Governor (1955-59) and U.S. Senator from Maine (1959-80). He served as Secretary of State under President Jimmy Carter. Muskie was the Democratic nominee for Vice-President in 1968, and ran for the Presidential nomination in 1972. He was one of the first environmentalists in the U.S. Senate.
