Hubert Humphrey was the Mayor of Minneapololis (1945-48), U.S. Senator from Minnesota (1949-64 and 1971-78), and Vice President under Lyndon Johnson (1965-69). In 1968, Humphrey was the Democratic Party nominee for President. He lost to Richard Nixon. He also campaigned for the Democratic Presidential nomination in 1960 and 1972.
