Brian Stauffer is one of my favorite illustrators. He’s been tearing things up the past few years, creating a brilliant body of work for publications as diverse as Worth, The New Yorker, Huffington., and countless altweeklies, as well as doing some knockout posters along the way. His cover illustrations for altweeklies from Kansas City to San Francisco have been powerful, pointed, and provocative….everything you hope and wish a cover illustration can be. And like a great blues guitarist, Brian keeps getting better and better, adding new shadings and nuances to his work. Just when you think you’ve got him typecast, he flips and does something incredibly delicate and beautiful like his University of Baltimore swan poster.
